Math, Math, Math (Children’s House 2)

We have been busy working with all kinds of new math materials in Children’s House 2 this week, building on the skills we’ve already established over the last several months. We began to work with the Numbers and Counters to explore the difference between even and odd numbers, and we’re having fun with the Montessori Bead Stair, too. Recognizing and counting (verifying) the colored beads helps us move from the concrete to the abstract, allowing us to start identifying quantities quickly, by sight. The next natural step is addition (and some of us are already discovering how that works on our own as we explore the Bead Stair!
