Signs of Spring (Children’s House 2)

| March 23, 2017 | 0 Comments

We welcomed the first day of spring (finally!) on Monday this week, and dove into our unit on flowers to celebrate this happy new season. We learned about the parts of the flower (calyx, stamen, pistil, and corolla), and why each part is important to the flower. We worked with the Classified Cards, and read about different kinds of flowers that we can find in the wild, in the garden, and in greenhouses. We talked about what flowers (and all living things) need to live and grow (water, air, light, and nutrients), and identified the parts of the flower on the ones we enjoy cutting and arranging in the vases in our classroom. We added a few new songs in French to our morning repertoire this week, too, with one about…what else? Flowers!
